Wow! City! (Ala Notable Children's Books. Younger Readers (Awards))

As an ALA Notable Book Award recipient, this picture book by Robert Neubecker is a great way to introduce children to big city visuals. There main story is of a girl leaving her home in the mountains to visit the big city of San Francisco. In her sights she sees planes, trains, bridges, large buildings and much more. The story is almost all visuals. At the bottom of each page are two words describing the picture, one of the words is always “Wow”. The pictures are brightly colored, with lots of action. There are many things kids can learn from this book, including colors, shapes, and various objects in everyday life.
