A friend like youAuthor Tanja Askani takes us through a trip in a field with friendly baby animals of all shapes and sizes, all the while highlighting the most importants aspects of friendship.

I am in love with this book. The photographs of the different baby animals are amazing, candid, and beautiful. Askani write quick phrases in a large and playful font that are great for large audiences. Those two reasons alone would make this a great storytime book, particularly for baby storytimes. I would use this book for a friendship themed storytime.

These are my favorite lines from the book about friendship:

Being friends is easy…
When the friends are you and me.
Other great selections for a friendship storytime are:1. Alex and Lulu, 2 of a Kind by Lorena Siminovich

Alex and Lulu : two of a kindMeet best friends Alex and Lulu. Alex loves having noisy, exciting adventures, and Lulu likes painting and making things. Even though they are different, they always have fun together. Until Alex begins to worry that they might be too different, that they might actually be opposites! Discover what opposites really are in this quirky story that celebrates differences.

2. Duck Duck Goose by Tad Hills

Duck, Duck, Goose Duck and Goose face a challenge to their friendship when an enthusiastic young duck moves into their neighborhood who wants to play–and win–all sorts of games.
