The New York Times has a wonderful article discussing three of America’s children’s book authors that broke the conventional rules for children’s book and introduced the concepts of silly, serious and sophisticated into children’s books. With detailed and graphic illustrations, nonsensical verse, and mature concepts behind the rhymes and pictures, these three authors altered the face of children’s books for future and contemporary writers.
