Todd Tarpley already won me over as a life-long fan with his first book, How About a Kiss For Me? I was super excited to see his newest book, Ten Tiny Toes pop up amongst the new books at the library. This delightful book traces the lifespan of ten tiny toes from birth to parenthood. The text is very soothing, and perfect for a bedtime read. The illustrations by Marc Brown (of Arthur fame) are in an adorable collage format of colors and images of babies exploring and developing as they age. My favorite passage is Tarpley’s description of baby’s first steps:

And one day those ten
tiny toes tried a test.
Five toes took a step
out ahead of the rest.
Then the other five followed
and stepped on their own,
and those tiny tiny toes
were now walking alone.

This is a great book for storytime, and an even greater book for new parents.
