This is the newest edition of the Brownie and Pearl books. Brownie is a sweet little girl who gets into adventures as well as trouble with her best friend & cat, Pearl. In this title, Brownie and Pearl have a little too much fun playing and accidentally break the radio! To make the amends, the two tidy up the house and learn to still have fun along the way.

Cynthia Rylant is a genius with children’s books. She’s written for a huge span of ages. Brownie and Pearl is a book that is definitely geared towards young girls, but the stories are still fun for both and girls. Rylant’s simple text are accompanied by colorful illustrations that do not stray from the text. It’ll be very easy for a new reader to keep up with the story.

I also love the moral of the story. Brownie and Pearl broke the rules and had to face the consequences. They did their duty, made amends with Brownie’s mom, and learned not to run in the house, they learned to take responsibility for their actions and they learned how to atone for misdeeds. In very few words, and with illustrations full of warm and cozy tones of pinks, purples, blues and browns, the reader will learn these lessons along with Brownie.
