This level 1 easy reader is an interesting read. There is no story and there are no characters. Its divided into 3 categories of things you find at the beach. Things in the water, things on items on the sand, and items at the beach.

Its a nice little book to read before making a trip to the beach. Its a nice book to read, then compare with what you actually see at the beach. The illustrations are a cross of photographs and what looks like watercolor background. I like the realism of the images, because its easier for young children to understand what they see and make those connections with the photo and the word on the page. There are about 5 words to the page, up at the very top with the image underneath.

This is a great book for a beginning reader, as most of the words are monosyllabic. I think younger children (toddlers and preschoolers) will enjoy having this book read to them. There is plenty of repetition with the sentences, with only the new word changing.
