Saturday January 24th has been bookmarked as the first ever National Readathon Day, organized by The National Book Foundation, GoodReads, Mashable and Penguin Random House.
You can read the full blurb by Penguin Random House on their blog here.
From the site:
You can get involved by joining readers across America in a marathon reading session on Saturday, January 24. From Noon – 4 PM in our respective time zones, we will sit and read a book in our own home, library, school or bookstore.
There are so many great new books to pick up and read for this event. Or you can reread an old favorite. Use this opportunity to share your favorite childhood book with your child. Give them the opportunity to pick out their own books for the event. I bet they’ll be excited and impatient to start reading. Check with your local library for some wonderful book recommendations if you hit reader’s block and can’t decide on a book. Remember, ebooks and audiobooks count too! If you’ll be on the road, download or check out an audiobook for the trip.
